Portraits of Joy

Portraits of Joy is an art series consisting of six original paintings created with acrylic, pastel and oil pastel on canvas.

I love observing people – especially when I catch the little, quirky moments that make us smile. It can be anything from a posture to a special facial expression – always disarmingly honest and full of personality. It is precisely these little glimpses of humanity that I try to capture in my art.

In my studio in Aarhus, I play with colours, brushes – and anything else that can be used – to create works that burst with joy, presence and character. I deliberately leave room for the imperfections, because they are precisely what makes it all interesting and alive.

My hope is that my paintings can become little pockets of good humour in everyday life – art that makes you smile and gives your home an atmosphere you want to embrace again and again.
